Review Of Extra Care ( The Top up / High Deductible Plan ) From Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co.

The Top Up Plan or The High Deductible Plan

What is a top up plan or a high deductible plan?
this is a plan / policy which can be taken along with your existing mediclaim policy.
This policy comes into effect after a pre-determined deductible amount.
Now one would ask what does one mean by deductible?
in common terms deductible means an amount of sum insured which you would share or pay or have as an existing insurance under the existing insurance plan.

Why Take this Plan?
Most of us are not adequately insured, so In the times of rising medical costs Extra Care Policy is the perfect health protection for you and your family. It takes care ofthe medical treatment costs incurred during hospitalization due to serious accident or illness. This policy can be taken as add on cover to your existing hospitalization – medical expenses policy.

Features of this plan
  1. This plan can be taken on individual or family floater basis.
  2. Eligiblity of Age at entry is from 18-70 years.
  3. The sum insured range's from Rs.10,00,000 to Rs.15,00,000
  4. The Premiums are very reasonable.
  5. There would waiver of medical tests up to 55 years subject to no adverse medical history.
  6. Continuity for waiting periods would be given on the base hospitalisation policy.
  7. No T.P A ( In House Processing of claims).
  8. Premium payable is eligible for deduction under 80 D of the income tax act.

How is the deductible applied at the time of claim?
Deductible would be applied a fresh for each claim.
• Each and every hospitalization would be considered as a separate claim.
• The limit of indemnity /Sum Insured is the maximum liability above the deductible.
For example – If the Sum Insured is Rs 10 lakhs and deductible is Rs 3 lakhs, our liability for a claim of Rs 13 lakhs would be Rs 10 lakhs (which is over and above the deductible).

What are the exclusions and waiting periods under the policy?
Benefits will not be available for Any Pre-existing condition, ailment or injury, until 48 months of continuous coverage have elapsed, after the date of inception of the first Extra Care policy with us.

Kindly read the Policy Wordings for further exculsions & to understand what will not be covered .

In our personal view this policy should be taken as it has low premium , high sum insured.

Waiver of medical tests up to 55 years subject to no adverse medical history.
